Land Rover relaunch the 90 and 110 as the Defender.
In 1990, the Land Rover 90 and 110 were relaunched as the Defender in 90, 110 and 130 versions, with the sought after new diesel engine, the 200Tdi, later replaced in 1994 by the quieter 300Tdi.
The engine again changed in 1998 to the Td5 which although a good and well designed diesel lump, was never popular with the ardent Land Rover lovers, mainly because of its sophisticated electronics, meaning it was out for DIY.
The original Land Rover Defender offered an impressive line up of body styles to include station wagons, plus the more luxurious County station wagon, plain hardtops, soft tops, truck cabs and the ever popular 4 door crew cabs in 127 and 130 versions, plus others, Land Rover Defenders looked the part. Various modifications followed over the years, involving slight improvements, which have not detracted from the basic beautiful lines of the Defender.
