Land Rover Crankshaft Locking Tool - This is another necessary piece of kit for the cambelt change. Suitable as with the timing cambelt kit, for the following Land Rover engines.... 2.5 diesel, 2.5 diesel turbo, 200Tdi and the 300Tdi. Available from Difflock, for what it is this tool is pricey but with a bit of ingenuity and common sense, you could possibly make your own.

How it works. The tool bolts to the front of the crankshaft pulley damper and thereby prohibits further rotation of the crankshaft once the tool engages with an object (normally the chassis), effectively locking the crankshaft in place so that the crankshaft bolt can be loosened or tightened.

Crankshaft Bolt Tool - Great tool, heavy duty and very strong complete With a 27mm socket with a 3/4”inch size drive. In the past I have extended these tools to give greater leverage on really stubborn crankshaft bolts using a length of scaffolding.

This tool also doubles up as a heavy duty wheel brace for the wheel nuts on the Land Rover series 3, Defender, 90 & 110. I bought this particular one from Difflock a few years ago, but I think that they now sell a different type, so I am not sure of the current tools durability.
